Many professions that require workers to be certified in CPR also require first aid certification.
Even if your employer does not require that you be certified in first aid, learning first aid is very useful and much more commonly used than CPR.
It is always best to contact your employer to determine whether you need first aid. If in doubt, we suggest that you choose the "CPR & First Aid" option. There is no extra charge to add on first aid.
Healthcare Provider CPR / BLS skills include:
- Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/AED
- Checking the pulse
- Using a bag valve mask
- Performing 2-rescuer CPR
- Jaw thrust maneuver
If you work in a hospital, have access to a bag valve mask at work, or have been trained in a healthcare setting for your job, you most likely need healthcare provider skills.
In general, if you are a licensed medical professional, you should choose "Yes".
If any person under the age of 12 may be present at your place of work or if you have the potential of coming into contact with any person under age 12, choose "Yes".
It is always best to contact your employer to determine whether you need pediatric CPR. If in doubt, we suggest that you choose "Yes" and be over-prepared. There is no extra charge to add on pediatric CPR.
